Kristen and Paul’s big day at Basil Place wedding venue was the epitome of timeless elegance. Set against 50 acres of gorgeous countryside, this Chardon, OH farm venue proved to be the perfect backdrop for their classic fall wedding. The couple, both passionate about creating meaningful memories, chose this venue because of its charm and versatility. Their story was woven into the details seamlessly, and capturing those moments as their wedding photographer was such an honor. The entire day was a dream!

Basil House
Basil Place is a stunning wedding venue located in the heart of Chardon, OH. Its scenic grounds offer a peaceful reprieve from the hustle and bustle of city life. (And showstopper backgrounds that wedding photographers like yours truly dream of!) The venue boasts two distinct spaces for your event. The Manor is a charming, historic house with intricate architectural details like the carvings on the wooden staircase in the foyer. At its front is a large pond for those seeking waterfront bridal portraits. The barn on the property is the secondary option! This rustic, yet sophisticated space can accommodate large gatherings of up to 250 guests. It’s large doors offer panoramic views of the storybook property and a lovely breeze to boot.

Northeast Ohio Wedding Venue
Kristen & Paul spent the morning getting ready at the carriage house, an on-site bridal suite for couples who choose the venue. This animal-friendly northeast Ohio wedding venue is a one-of-a-kind space & couldn’t have been a better choice for this couple, especially since Kristen is an equestrian! The morning of Kristen’s wedding, she and her girlfriends walked up to the livestock barn for a little moment away. I didn’t grab my camera in time to snag shots of the moment, but I’m thankful Sam and I went unnoticed. Later, Kristen mentioned how that was one of her favorite parts of the morning. Just her and her girls, on a little walk, taking it all in. Wedding days go by so quickly and I cannot emphasize enough the importance of trying to slow it down! Step back when you can to cherish and truly notice your favorite people celebrating your love.

Kristen & Paul’s Big Day at Basil House
Kristen and Paul’s wedding was filled with meaningful moments from start to finish. Their first look was an emotional, private moment, captured with utmost care. I (along with the second shooter) stepped back to give them the privacy to really relish in the intimacy and sanctity of their moment. When they wrapped up their private vows, we immediately headed into portraits with their two beloved golden retrievers, Odin and Ivy. These adorable pups were an important part of the ceremony, adding even more warmth and joy to the day. Each detail was beautiful right down to the patterned tablecloth– nothing was missed. The planning team made sure to leave enough time in the timeline so that no one felt rushed. We were able to capture all of the important portraits, details, and candid shots that Kristen & Paul wanted.
